Teaching You
If you would like to learn to play the clarinet or saxophone and live in or near Hinckley, then I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact me via the form below.
Then let the fun begin!
I can help you to fulfil your aspirations and have fun at the same time. Everyone learns faster when they're enjoying themselves.
I am a very successful and highly qualified teacher who has over thirty years of experience. I teach absolute beginners to grade 8 and beyond. Age is no barrier to starting to learn, only size. (You have to be strong enough to hold the instrument comfortably. Usually this means being over eight years old.)
You will have to provide your own instrument, reeds and music, although obviously I will be happy to advise you. The lessons are usually on a one to one basis.
I am very happy to help you through examinations and usually follow the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music or Music Teachers Board syllabi. If exams are not for you and you want to play just for fun, then I will aim to make it a pleasure by ensuring we play lots of duets and choose music you enjoy.
How Much Will It Cost?
My private teaching rates are £40 per hour or £20 for 30 minutes.
I teach from home in my dedicated music room.
Free on-road parking is always available.

Student Reviews
I enjoyed studying with Verity very much. She has a vast knowledge of the instrument gained through her own extensive studies at prestigious music colleges and through playing in many famous orchestras and ensembles.
Her approach to teaching is methodical and inspiring. She was always very patient and understanding when it came to mastering difficult passages of music and through studying with Verity I obtained a distinction at Grade 6 of the Associated Board exams.

Verity is a wonderful saxophone teacher who has made my learning journey both enjoyable and rewarding. She tailors her teaching style to suit my preferences, ensuring each lesson feels personal and effective. Her positive and cheerful manner creates a welcoming environment where I feel encouraged to improve.
Verity is excellent at adapting her lessons to what I can manage on any given day, showing a genuine understanding of my needs and abilities. She provides plenty of positive feedback and encouragement, always focusing on what I’m doing well while constructively identifying areas for improvement. This approach helps me feel confident in my progress while giving me clear guidance on how to develop further.
She strikes a great balance between being supportive and challenging. Verity understands my goals and time frame, helping me move forward without feeling overwhelmed or underestimated. Her thoughtful and encouraging teaching style has made a real difference, and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough!

Mrs Morris is an excellent teacher who not only is able to teach me all about the instrument in a clear and direct manner, but also ensures when playing music, it is as enjoyable as it can be - from fun duets to personal piece suggestions I would suggest.
It is clear Mrs Morris herself has a love for the instrument and knows how to translate it into teaching, always open to new ideas or pieces that I would recommend, which made my saxophone lessons so much fun and my love of the instrument to grow.
I immensely enjoyed my lessons with Mrs Morris over 5/6 years due to them always being fun and engaging- If I was feeling unmotivated by scales for example she would simplify it down for me and we could always play a duet for a short break.
My music lessons always felt like a fun break rather than work, despite working towards (and achieving) the music grades I aimed for.

I have been playing Saxophone for quite some time, but for one reason or another had never seriously got round to reading music (school never gave it a high priority).
So, after playing in bands where most could read and understand music, I decided I wanted to learn this foreign language. So, for me the most important aspect of this was to find a teacher that I could connect with. So, as I wasn’t being taken by my parents to the nearest music teacher they could find I needed to go searching.
There are loads of well qualified teachers advertising on the web, and having tried a couple they were fine, but I didn’t feel they were on the same musical wavelength. Then Covid came along, and all things ended abruptly.
Then a search for a new teacher and a chance conversation with a music mate who put me in touch with Verity. This was a revelation, she took time to discuss what I wanted and achieve, she is patient (to the extreme) and thorough. I didn’t want to do the musical grades which I think is the normal basis of teaching and this was no problem to Verity who perfectly tailors’ lessons to this.
We also worked on my sax technique which again reaped huge benefits. I now have a much greater understanding of the language of music and what musicians are talking about, it has inspired me to join a local wind orchestra playing music I would never have had the confidence or ability to do before having lessons with Verity.
So, if you are contemplating having lessons whether its sax or clarinet and whether you are young or old (like me), then regardless of age or skill I would thoroughly recommend you give Verity a call.
